Nexus Darknet FAQ — Questions & Answers

Find answers to the most common questions about Nexus Market. From account creation to payments, security, orders, and more — everything you need to know in one place.

🧭 Account Questions

Registration, login, and account management

  1. Access Nexus via a verified .onion link using Tor Browser
  2. Click "Register" on the login page
  3. Choose a unique username (not linked to your real identity)
  4. Create a strong, unique password
  5. Complete the captcha verification
  6. Set up 2FA and add your PGP public key for enhanced security

Tip: Use a password manager like KeePassXC to generate and store your Nexus password.

If you set up PGP-based recovery, you can reset your password by decrypting a recovery message with your private key. If you didn't set up recovery options, unfortunately there is no way to recover the account — this is by design for security.

Prevention: Always store your password in a secure password manager and set up PGP recovery when creating your account.

  1. Log into your Nexus account
  2. Go to Account Settings → Security
  3. Click "Enable 2FA"
  4. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (like Aegis or andOTP)
  5. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm
  6. Save your backup codes in a secure location

Important: Do not use Google Authenticator as it doesn't have backup features. Use open-source alternatives like Aegis (Android) or Tofu (iOS).

No, usernames cannot be changed after registration. This is a security feature to prevent impersonation and maintain trust in vendor/buyer reputations. Choose your username carefully when registering.

🧭 Payment Questions

Deposits, withdrawals, and cryptocurrency

Nexus Market accepts two cryptocurrencies:

  • Bitcoin (BTC): Widely available but transactions are traceable on the blockchain
  • Monero (XMR): Recommended for privacy — transactions are untraceable

For maximum privacy, we recommend using Monero. See our Monero guide to learn how to buy and use XMR.

  1. Log into Nexus and go to "Wallet"
  2. Select BTC or XMR for deposit
  3. Copy your unique deposit address
  4. Send cryptocurrency from your personal wallet to this address
  5. Wait for confirmations (BTC: ~3 confirmations, XMR: ~10 confirmations)

Warning: Never deposit directly from an exchange — this links your identity to your Nexus account. Use an intermediate wallet.

  • Bitcoin: Usually 30-60 minutes (3 confirmations)
  • Monero: Usually 20-40 minutes (10 confirmations)

Confirmation times depend on network congestion and the fee you paid. If your deposit doesn't appear after 2 hours, check the transaction on a blockchain explorer.

  1. Go to "Wallet" and select "Withdraw"
  2. Enter your personal wallet address (double-check for accuracy!)
  3. Enter the amount to withdraw
  4. Confirm with your 2FA code if enabled
  5. Wait for processing (usually 10-30 minutes)

Tip: Always withdraw to a personal wallet you control, not directly to an exchange.

🧭 Security Questions

PGP, escrow, and staying safe

Nexus uses 2-of-3 multisignature escrow for most transactions:

  1. When you place an order, funds are held in a multisig wallet
  2. Three parties have keys: buyer, vendor, and Nexus
  3. To release funds, 2 of 3 signatures are required
  4. When you confirm receipt, you + vendor sign to release
  5. In disputes, Nexus can side with either party

This protects both buyers and vendors from scams.

Finalize Early (FE) means releasing escrow funds to the vendor before you receive your order. This is risky because:

  • You have no protection if the vendor doesn't ship
  • Nexus cannot help recover your funds
  • It's a common scam tactic

We recommend NEVER finalizing early unless you have extensive positive history with a specific vendor.

Yes, strongly recommended. PGP encryption protects your sensitive information (like shipping addresses) from:

  • Market staff (in case of compromise)
  • Law enforcement (if servers are seized)
  • Hackers (if there's a data breach)

Always encrypt your shipping address with the vendor's PGP key. Learn how in our PGP guide.

  1. Only use links from trusted sources like this page
  2. Verify links using PGP (learn how in our PGP guide)
  3. Bookmark verified links in Tor Browser
  4. Check that the captcha matches Nexus's style
  5. After login, verify your account details are correct

Never trust links from search engines, Telegram, or Reddit.

🧭 Orders Questions

Placing orders, disputes, and shipping

  1. Deposit funds to your Nexus wallet
  2. Browse products and select what you want
  3. Choose shipping option and quantity
  4. Encrypt your shipping address with vendor's PGP key
  5. Review order total and click "Place Order"
  6. Wait for vendor to mark as shipped
  7. Confirm receipt (finalize) when you receive it
  1. Check the estimated delivery time for your shipping option
  2. Message the vendor through Nexus (encrypt with PGP)
  3. Wait for their response (usually 24-48 hours)
  4. If no response or resolution, open a dispute before auto-finalize
  5. Provide evidence to Nexus support

Important: Open disputes BEFORE the auto-finalize timer expires, otherwise funds will be released to the vendor automatically.

If there's a problem with your order:

  1. First, try to resolve directly with the vendor
  2. If that fails, open a dispute on the order page
  3. Explain your issue and provide any evidence
  4. Nexus moderator will review both sides
  5. Decision is made and funds are released accordingly

Disputes are resolved within 7-14 days typically. Provide clear evidence (screenshots, tracking info, photos) to support your case.

Auto-finalize is a countdown timer that automatically releases escrow funds to the vendor if you don't take action. This prevents buyers from holding funds indefinitely.

Timers vary based on shipping type (domestic: 7-14 days, international: 21-28 days typically).

If you haven't received your order, open a dispute before auto-finalize to protect your funds.
